LafataCorp is a project lab for trading systems built and documented across prediction and event contract markets. Each project below represents a different approach to finding edge, from fully automated bots to manual expertise-driven trading. Performance is tracked transparently with live data. The NHL focus across these systems reflects a deeper ambition: understanding the game at a level that translates to front office decision-making.
An automated trading agent deployed on Kalshi event contract markets. The system runs a proprietary model with data-driven entry criteria and systematic position sizing across multiple market categories. Performance is tracked live and this section updates nightly.
A live in-game trading system built on a proprietary model trained extensively on historical NHL data. The system identifies high-confidence situations during games and executes only when both model output and market conditions meet a defined threshold. Paper traded across the full 2025-26 NHL regular season.
A pre-game model that builds edge predictions from a proprietary combination of advanced hockey metrics, scheduling context, and historical matchup data. Strong performance through February was followed by a drawdown in March coinciding with the post-Olympic schedule break -- a regime shift that informed targeted improvements heading into next season.
Alongside the automated systems, this section tracks Cam's personal event contract trading on Robinhood. Updated monthly, it serves as a benchmark comparing human intuition against algorithmic execution, and highlights Cam's particular edge in hockey markets. NHL represents the vast majority of volume and nearly all of the portfolio's positive performance.
Profits from event contract trading are swept into a long-term investment portfolio on a bi-weekly schedule. The portfolio is diversified across index ETFs, tech positions, and speculative plays. 67% of total portfolio funding has been sourced directly from prediction market returns, with the remaining 33% from direct deposits. Individual holdings are not disclosed.
Polaris is being built with hockey operations decision-making in mind, combining the analytical foundation developed through prediction market research with a front-office perspective. The system integrates play-by-play data, player tracking metrics, and situational modeling to surface insights that translate to real roster and strategy decisions. More details coming soon.
Cam Lafata is a sports media professional and entrepreneur based in Dallas-Fort Worth. Born in Dallas and raised partly in Frisco before his family relocated to New England, Cam returned to his hometown to attend Southern Methodist University, where he studies Sport Management through the Simmons School of Education and Human Development alongside business coursework at the Cox School of Business. His concentrations span sports law and ethics, sports data analytics, organizational leadership, and communications.
Cam is an on-air personality at KTCK 96.7/1310 The Ticket, a DFW institution and one of the most successful and influential sports stations in the country, where he contributes live broadcast coverage, editorial commentary, and analysis across all major sports, with specialized expertise in the NHL. That focus is deliberate: his long-term ambition is to work in hockey operations at the professional level.
His academic research examines the behavioral and financial effects of legalized sports betting on young adults, and the rise of prediction markets as an alternative investment vehicle for a younger generation of investors. That second thread became LafataCorp, his venture in predictive markets and sports analytics: a portfolio of trading systems, automated bots, and analytical tools, built and documented openly at lafatacorp.com.
Catch Cam live on 96.7/1310 The Ticket and SMUTV every week.
